The calm you feel when you first meet Lizzie and Eliza is just the prelude to the chaos. Chemistry is a word with a very specific meaning, but the way you apply it can lead to very different outcomes. And that's exactly the word that comes to mind when you see them together.
Getting ready in the same room
They got ready in the same room — something that would be unthinkable at a straight wedding, and one of the details we love most about many LGBTQ+ weddings. To shoot in a documentary way you need «things to happen», situations to build on their own, and few give you as much to work with as having both brides sharing the same space. In cases like this our trick is to arrive early and let ourselves be carried by whatever unfolds, staying away from the usual script.
Paddock ceremony and dinner at sunset
The ceremony was short, held in the paddock at This Must Be The Place, but the vows echoed against the mountains that surround the venue. During dinner, with the sun already dropping, the speeches arrived and gave way to a brief pause to eat.
The calm wasn't going to last long: cowboy hats on and ready for the country dancing, they cut the cake.
