La Baronia

    Sacha & Jonathan

Some weddings just click: the couple, the venue and the team around them all pulling in the same direction. Sacha and Jonathan's day at La Baronia was one of those. Barcelona Brides brought us on board for the photography and wedding film, and from the very first email we could tell it was going to be the kind of day you remember effortlessly.

Sacha and Jonathan travelled from the UK to get married in Catalonia and chose La Baronia for it: a centuries-old estate wrapped in ivy, with stone columns and open views of the valley, only half an hour from Barcelona. The sort of place you don't need to overdecorate — the venue already does the heavy lifting.

La Baronia: a wedding venue near Barcelona with real character

La Baronia is one of those venues we genuinely love at Piña Colada. Stone walls dressed in ivy, columns worn by time, arches, a small bell tower and a terrace opening onto the inland Catalan landscape. It has history without ever tipping into ostentation.

For a couple travelling in for a destination wedding in Barcelona, La Baronia quietly ticks every box: nature all around, architecture with soul, and the city less than an hour away. The day proved it — an outdoor ceremony framed by stone and ivy, with that mix of emotion and quiet beauty that makes the wedding coverage almost tell itself.

Working with Barcelona Brides: when the team lifts the day

Barcelona Brides ran the planning with their usual calm and judgement. When coordination flows, it shows in the wedding photography and film: we get to focus on the glances, the small gestures, everything happening around the couple, instead of putting out fires.

We especially enjoy working with planners who understand what a photo-and-video team needs to tell a story properly — realistic timings, good corners for portraits and respect for the intimate moments. That was there all day.

    Documentary wedding photography and video

We covered the day with both photography and wedding film, in the documentary approach that defines us: staying close without getting in the way, letting the day unfold and catching what actually happens. The ceremony framed by ivy, the cocktail hour on the terrace with the valley behind, the toasts, the long hugs and the dancing under the string lights.

When the guests are as present as Sacha and Jonathan's were, the coverage fills up with moments you couldn't ask for. You just need to pay attention and not miss a beat.

An outdoor wedding wrapped in stone and ivy

The ceremony was held outdoors, with La Baronia's centuries-old façade as a backdrop. Then came the aperitif, a long banquet table dressed in white and green, a champagne coupe tower in the sun, the speeches, the first dance and a party that ran late into the night, closing with cold sparklers under the stone arch.

It was an outdoor wedding that made the most of every hour of light and finished with a nighttime energy that's a joy to film. The kind of celebration that reminds us why we do this.
